The UCL Law Fair, kindly sponsored by Freshfields and The College of Law, is coming soon!

Aimed at all students, whether you’re studying Law or not, this event gives you the chance to meet a wide range of recruiters and course / training providers from the Legal Sector.

UCL’S Marketing and FMCG Fair is on tomorrow!

UCL Careers Service are hosting the Marketing & FMCG Fair which will be of interest to many UCL postgraduates and researchers.

Date:              Thursday, 27 October 2011

Time:             5.30pm – 8pm

Location:     WilkinsBuilding

In the first hour (5.30 – 6.30pm, Old Refectory, Wilkins Building), you’ll be able to listen to – and quiz – representatives from Google, Ogilvy, Unilever, Kerry Group, Sainsbury’s and PathMotion.

The remaining part of the event (6.30 – 8pm, Jeremy Bentham Room, Wilkins Building) is the networking bit, where you can speak to the panellists above, plus representatives from other companies (TripAdvisor, Sudler London, Proctor & Gamble, Incisive Media, Ketchum PLEON, Pathfinders Media Recruitment).

There will be lots of information on opportunities for graduates, postgraduates and researchers at this event, so come along to find out what it is about and what opportunities there are for you.

UCL IT & Technology Careers Fair – Thursday 20th October 2011

The UCL IT & Technology Fair which is being held on Thursday 20th October,  17.00 to 19.30  features some of the top employers in IT Consultancy, Software Development, Telecommunications and Financial Computing among other career areas.

Those attending this year include Accenture, Bloomberg, BAE Systems, BT, IBM UK, Samsung and Ericsson UK.

Our fairs focus on specific industry sectors and allow you to chat to senior managers, graduate recruiters and UCL alumni about jobs, selection procedures and what they are looking for from you. You can compare and contrast what different employers have on offer in one place at one time and ask the individual questions that matter to you.

This careers fair is for all levels of student and you will be able to ask the employers about any extra opportunities they can offer for PhDs.

This year’s Engineering Careers Fair will be held from 5-7.30pm in the  Old Refectory / JBR, Wilkins Building.

Considering career alternatives but need more information?

Around 50% of postgraduate researchers move beyond academia after graduation, and many postdoctoral researchers will make a similar transition. For those contemplating such a career move key questions arise such as what qualifications and skills do employers require? how easy is it to make the transition? where do I find job opportunities? Lots of documented information about different career areas is available (e.g. The UCL Careers Service library, UCL Careers Research Students pages, www.careerstagged.co.uk), but sometimes there are things you can only find out from people actually doing those jobs. The UCL Careers Service, in conjunction with the Graduate School, has for quite a few years now provided postgraduate research students with the opportunity to meet employers in a variety of ways (visit our research students careers pages for more information) but both research students and research staff can also attend careers events with employers provided by our parent organisation; The Careers Group, University of London.
